My mother always told me I our family could trace our family tree back to the 1200s. When beginning research for a second novel, I discovered that this was, in fact, true.
It was when I began to learn more about Meir of Rothenberg’s dramatic and profound life that I decided to write about him and his family — which is the story, of course, of my own family.
